There are plenty of skin products out there that claim to give you the best when it comes to lotions and cleansers. A lot of them have confusing names and uses too. Cleanser? Serum? I know I was lost when I started my beauty routine. Luckily, I got them straightened out, and you can read up on the differences here.
Now that I’m in my 30s, skincare talk is a bit more serious than my teens. I work hard, so sometimes it shows on my face. That means I need some gentle and effective products to help out my complexion. I’ve tried a lot of them out, and I’m glad to give out my reviews on my favorite skin products from my skincare routine!
Whether you’re in your 30s or your 40s, Allure Beauty Box is a great way to go! They send you monthly boxes with the best high quality products you can imagine! So go check them out! Now on to the other skin care products I use apart from Allure Beauty Box!
I use a cleanser twice a day: once in the morning before I leave for work, and once at night before I go to bed. Pro tip: choose something fragrance free, so it won’t bother sensitive skin. Here are some of my picks.
Whenever I have a long day, my makeup feels it too. It gets greasy and smudgy. Thankfully, Philosophy’s cleanser melts away all my face and eye makeup in one simple step. Plus, it keeps my skin hydrated too. BUY IT HERE
TruSkin’s vitamin C formula cleans deep within my pores, and it’s really good at getting out the eye shadow my makeup wipes leave behind. Plus, the oregano, orange peel, and tea tree scents can’t be beat. BUY IT HERE
I love it when a product does exactly what it’s supposed to do. This one says “Refresh,” and goodness does it refresh! This cleanser moisturizes my skin and exfoliates too. Some cleansers leave my skin a bit raw, but not Kalame. BUY IT HERE
A toner is the final, final step in my nightly face-cleansing routine, after I use my cleanser for the second time (at night). Whatever my cleansers and moisturizers leave behind, my toner is there to pick it up.
It’s easy to see why this is Amazon’s best-selling toner. It soothes my skin and is full of beautiful natural ingredients like roses and witch hazel. BUY IT HERE
Speaking of roses, Poppy Austin contains Moroccan rose water for extra hydration. That sounds really elegant, doesn’t it? It also works elegantly too! BUY IT HERE
Kiehl’s ultra facial oil-free toner (250 mL)
I have oily skin, and I’m sure you know someone out there who has the same. That’s why I always reach for oil-free products like Kiehl. After a few weeks of trying this, my skin’s oil glands have calmed down a lot more than before. BUY IT HERE
Serum is a skincare product you can apply to your skin after you use a cleanser but before a moisturizer. These are super potent, so make sure your skin is cleansed so you can get the most out of them. Here are three serums I’ve tried and like.
Serumtologie vitamin C serum 22 (1.15 oz.)
I love anything with citrus in it, and Serumtologie’s vitamin C gives me my fix and a lot more. It won’t leave my sensitive skin feeling blotchy either. BUY IT HERE
Skinceuticals CE ferulic (1 oz.)
I thought this cost way too much for one ounce, but the benefits I got from it are countless. Just a few drops activate antioxidants that help my skin feel a lot firmer. Perfect for when I’m on the go, since this one lasts for 72 hours. No need to reapply every day! BUY IT HERE
Remember the days when you were a teenager dreaming of the day you got rid of acne? We all know acne lasts a lot longer than your 16th birthday party. Luckily, TruSkin cleared up my zits and acne scars after a few weeks. BUY IT HERE
Day light cream
I’m a creature of the beach, so whenever it’s sunny outside I’ll have my toes in the sand next to the water. That means I can’t skimp out on sun protection. I use day light creams to protect my skin from sunburn. Here are my favorites.
Murad essential-C day moisture broad spectrum, SPF 30 (1.7 oz)
Day light creams need to be lightweight with an SPF of at least 30 with UVA/UVB protection. That’s why I use Murad’s formula. It’s also a great moisturizer; the ydrating feeling will last all day with this product. BUY IT HERE
VENeffect anti-aging moisturizer, SPF 15 (1.7 oz.)
Did you take a double take at the price? Yes, it really is $145.00, but don’t let that scare you! It’s on the pricier side for a reason. This moisturizer is infused with potent plant-based anti-agers and broad-spectrum SPF 15 UVA/UVB sunscreen protection. BUY IT HERE
This product really did give me “renewed hope” that my skin would look firm and wrinkle-free. The hydroxy acids lift away my fine lines, leaving hydrated skin and a long-lasting glow. BUY IT HERE
My mom always told me that to make something into a habit, you have to do it until it sticks. Same goes with eye creams. I’m not at the age where I see significant crow’s feet yet, but with eye creams, I’m prepping my skin so that day comes later rather than sooner. Here are my favorite eye cream routimnes.
If I could use one facial product for the rest of my life, this might be it. Pure Biology’s total eye cream really lives up to its name. It reduces fine lines and wrinkles around the eye. I’m a bit of a night owl, and my puffy eyes always let everyone know I need more sleep. If you’re like me, you’ll enjoy how Pure Biology decreases puffiness, bags, and dark circles when I’m staying up late writing on this blog! BUY IT HERE
Don’t worry: I did a double take when I read the ingredients list too. Bisabolol? Caffeince? That stuff gives me energy, but it also makes me more tired when it wears off. But was I wrong! This formula reduces puffiness around my eyes using caffeine, bisabolol, and sodium hyaluronate. It’s does more for my eyes than a grande coffee can. BUY IT HERE
As we age, we lose collagen, the substance that keeps our skin firm. This is most noticeable under our eyes and jawline. Using a good night cream can help. The best night creams on the market contain antioxidants (Vitamins A, C, E, and green tea), glycerin, hylaurin acid, fatty acids, and retinol. Avoid products with too much alcohol. Here is our pick for night creams.
Murad’s cream attracts and binds moisture to dry skin, while vitamins A, C, and E defend skin from free radical damage. BUY IT HERE
Pure Biology anti-aging night cream (1.6 oz.)

The best times of my teens were when I got to wear masks at sleepovers and watch TV until 3 am. Now that I’m a little older, watching TV all night is impossible, but I still manage a mask every now and then to clean my pores. I also recently jumped on the activated charcoal wagon! If you’re totally skeptical, let me tell you: activated charcoal works wonders. Here are my picks for masks, including two charcoal-based ones.
FineVine’s 2-in-1 mask is combined with activated charcoal and mud from the Dead Sea. This mask will fight acne, open pores, and remove dirt and impurities deep within the skin. Just apply and leave for a few minutes. BUY IT HERE
Use this mask to clear pores and leave your skin silky smooth with the power of activated charcoal. BUY IT HERE
Charlotte Tibury goddess skin clay mask (2.53 oz.)
There’s a reason this mask says it’s fit for a baby on the bottle, because that’s how your skin will feel after you use this mask. It’s infused with rosehip oil, which regenerates and restores skin softness .Frangipani flower soothes and purifies. Spanish clay naturally absorbs surface skin oil, leaving a vibrant afterglow. This mask will leave your face feeling nice and smooth, not tough and cakey like other replacement masks. BUY IT HERE
The next best thing to a mask is a peel. I only usually find them at day spas though, so owning a peel gives me that pampered feeling. I’m sure you’ll find these peels appealing.
Hearing “dermatologist approved” is music to my ears. DERMAdoctor’s physical chemistry peel exfoliates skin and is doctor approved, so I know it’s safe and all natural. BUY IT HERE
