Working out can be very enjoyable if you can find a fun way to exercise. Some people aren’t made for the gym or treadmill, which can make losing weight or gaining muscle difficult.

But you don’t have to become a marathon runner or a weight lifter to get fit. There are so many different forms of exercise. As long as you’re moving your body and staying consistent, you’ll see the mental and physical benefits faster.

To help you find your next fun activity, here is a list of a couple of fun ways to exercise to get your cardio going!

Fun Way to Exercise for a Healthier Life: Options

Biking

Radster Trail
Rad Power Bikes

If you enjoy being outside and want to incorporate more cardio into your routine, we recommend lacing up your shoes and hopping onto a bike! The Radster Trail Electric Off-Road Bike from Rad Power Bikes enables you to have more fun exploring your local area, even if that means going off-road! It allows you to pedal up to 28 mph and features enough torque to make exploring hilly areas easier. So, enjoy this energetic way to get your workout in!

Dancing

Dancing is a great way to stay in shape and burn calories. As an aerobic exercise, dancing is great for getting that heart rate up! And depending on what type of dance you’re doing, it can also improve coordination, balance, and flexibility.

One of the best parts about dancing is that you can do it practically anywhere. While it’s possible to join group glasses, you can also dance along to music or instructional videos right at home. If you are doing a cardio-type dance routine, you can expect to lose roughly 400 calories per hour.

You can choose a style of dance that fits your interests. If you like pop music, try Zumba! If you love Latin beats, then salsa or cha-cha can be fun. Or if you are into classical music, then ballroom dancing or ballet can be a good type of dance for you.

Hiking

Finding an activity you can do outdoors can make your workout routine a lot more fun. Hiking, for example, is a full-body workout that improves your cardiovascular fitness and endurance. It’s also good for strengthening and toning your muscles – especially in your legs.

Hiking is a very popular form of exercise because you get to see some beautiful sights while doing it. And it’s something you can do with friends or family! Whether you’re trekking around a lake or climbing up a mountain, you’ll hardly realize that you’ll be burning tons of calories! Even an easy to moderate hike can burn 400 or more calories in an hour.

Swimming

By swimming for just one hour, you can burn up to 500 calories – which is an excellent form of cardio! Plus, it works on every muscle group in your body, which can give you a strong, lean look.

One of the best parts about swimming is that it’s easy on your joints, so it’s great for people with limited mobility range. If you want to start swimming, ask about open time at your community pool. Or if you’re lucky enough to live by a lake, you can always do your laps out in the middle of nature!

Yoga

Although yoga is a rather relaxed form of exercise, it still has numerous benefits for your mind and body. Yoga can help you with flexibility and balance while also improving your posture and strengthening your core. And since body awareness and mindfulness are often part of the practice, yoga can also be done to reduce stress and anxiety.

There are many different types of yoga, some of which are specifically designed to provide a cardio workout. Vinyasa, Ashtanga, and Hot Yoga are three styles of aerobic yoga what will have you sweating in just a few minutes! If you do choose a more cardio-focused yoga class, you’ll burn more calories (anywhere from 200 – 600 per hour) and work on your endurance.

Kayaking

If you’re looking for an activity that works on your upper body, kayaking is a good choice. It’s a low-impact workout that provides a high-intensity workout, as your core and arms are essentially moving the entire time. And if you engage your legs to stay balanced, you’ll also get a little lower body workout too!

Kayaking is a fun form of exercise because it allows you to be out in nature. You can kayak a lake in the mountains, a river in a canyon, or even the coast of the ocean! Exploring the scenic surroundings of where you live makes it so much easier to exercise and lose weight!

If you don’t live near a body of water you can also use an indoor rowing machine. In fact, rowing is considered to be a better cardio workout, since it’s a faster stroke rate compared to kayaking. Either way, both are fun ways to exercise if you want something different!

Circus Skills

There’s nothing more fun than participating in circus arts! Learning how to fly on the trapeze or hang from an aerial rope is really unique form of cardio. Both of these activities are full-body workouts as climbing and swinging requires lots of strength and muscle coordination. And on top of that, they are good for balance and flexibility.

The only downside is you’ll need to find a school or gym that offers these types of classes. If you aren’t able to find circus classes, you can always try slacklining (tightrope walking) instead. Although it’s also considered a circus skill, slacklining can be done in a park or wherever you have two stable anchors.

Incorporating one of these activities into your daily routine can be a fun way to exercise. That’s because finding an activity that brings you joy takes the pain out of working out. So you’ll burn calories, lose weight, and have fun – all at the same time! And if you are interested in trying a more traditional workout, that’s perfectly fine too! We have some great instructional videos to help you get in shape by doing pilates and leg workouts.
