Christmas Cookies Recipe

Cookie Ingredients:christmas cookies recipe

  • 300g flour
  • 100g sugar powder
  • 100g butter
  • 2 medium-size eggs
  • ½ lemon skin
  • 2g or less of baking powder

Shop the famous Wolferman’s Bakery. Their gourmet offerings range from the best English muffin gift baskets to bread delivery, pastries, bagels and more.

Biscuit Instructions:

  1. First, mix the flour with the sugar powder and baking powder.
  2. Then add a pinch of salt. This activates the baking powder.
  3. Next, add the eggs and the butter. Your butter should be at room temperature so that it’s easy to combine with the other ingredients. If need be, put it into the microwave for a couple of seconds.
  4. Knead all of these ingredients together.
  5. Once you have a uniform dough, ground ½ lemon skin and continue kneading.
  6. Transfer the dough onto the baking paper and spread open.
  7. Sprinkle some flour onto your dough and then cover with another sheet of baking paper.
  8. Spread the dough until it is 0.5 cm thick.
  9. With the help of a cookie cutter or a glass, cut out the biscuits. Take the excess dough, roll out, and cut out also. If you don’t have Christmas cookie cutters you can always create your own, just be creative.
  10. Repeat until you run out of biscuits.
  11. Bake at 180° for 20 mins.
  12. Once golden, take it out of the oven and let them cool down before you decorate!

Now onto the Christmas cookies decorations!

Royal Icing Ingredients:

  • 300g powdered sugar
  • 60g egg white
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • Gel food coloring

Materials:

  • Candy pearls
  • Food plastic bags or icing bags
  • Toothpicks

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, add a few drops of lemon juice along with the egg white.
  2. Beat until it’s fully firm.
  3. Add powdered sugar and continue mixing.
  4. Add food coloring as desired.
  5. Depending on how thick the icing is, after adding the food coloring (some food coloring is runnier than others), add more lemon juice. You’ll know if you need to add more lemon juice if the icing doesn’t spread evenly.
  6. Take your icing and transfer it to a food plastic bag or icing bag. If using a food plastic bag, you’ll just need to cut off one of the tips of the bag. The royal icing can decorate around 35-40 cookies.
  7. Once you’ve iced your cookies, decorate your Christmas cookies with candy pearls, using toothpicks to position them neatly.
