Fragrances come in all shapes, sizes and even prices! What if we told you that you can get some of your favorite brand name perfumes for a fraction of the cost? Well, you might think we are kidding, but in fact we are not! We recently discovered Dossier, a fragrance brand that makes luxury perfume affordable. And get this, they not only make it affordable, but they are also 100% vegan and cruelty-free.
After our discovery of Dossier, we were so impressed that a brand like this even existed that we decided to try it out for ourselves and give all you mami’s the insider scoop!
First things first, Dossier is a company that has worked hard in developing and meticulously crafting their own alternatives for some of the most famous fragrances on the market. Their collection of fragrances resembles fragrances from companies like Chanel, Armani, Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent and even Versace! If that hasn’t piqued your interest, then get this. They are also a fraction of the cost. Yes, a fraction!
So, to really dig deep into the similarities of the famous perfume brands and Dossier’s version, we decided to test out 2 different perfumes.
1. Oriental Woody 1 – Inspired by Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle
Starting with the huge price difference. A 50ml/1.7oz bottle from Dossier is only $29, whereas the 50 ml/1.7oz Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle bottles cost about $105. Yup! That’s right, almost 4 times the price.
Let’s talk scent. When we tried out the Dossier version of Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle and put it back to back with the original version, we found that they smelled almost identical. In fact, so similar that no one on the street would be able to tell the difference. If you love the scent of Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle, but you’re just not ready to pay the price, we highly recommend opting for the Oriental Woody 1. Trust us, you will thank us later!
2. Oriental 1 – Inspired by YSL’s Black Opium
Let’s talk price. A 50ml/1.7oz bottle from Dossier is only $29, whereas the 50ml/1.7oz YSL’s Black opium is about $94. Just over 3 times as much in cost for the same exact size bottle.
Now you may be thinking, does the Oriental 1 compare in scent to the YSL Black Opium? Indeed, it does! To measure the difference these perfumes has on different body chemistry, we tested on all our team members and the result was an outstanding yes from all of them! If you’re on your last leg of the YSL Black Opium, it’s time to switch and buy the Oriental 1 from Dossier.
What about longevity?
We all use perfume differently, some more than others but when we tested the longevity of the scent for both perfumes, we found that it was very similar in how long the fragrance lasted on our body as the original and we were quite impressed as even one spray could last quite a long time.
What about design?
Now if you’re looking at design, the bottles from Dossier are simple, heavy glass bottles with a magnetic cap, and just simply elegant. The bottle is packaged in a nice white box with plenty of protection for when it is being shipped. In the box, they also include a little note that in detail describes the top notes for the scent you have purchased, ingredients, and how the process works.
Lastly, our favorite part! In the box they ship to you, they also include a sample of the same fragrance. Yeah, a sample. In fact, you can open the box, try the sample (first) and if you’re not a fan, you can go ahead and pack it all back up and send it back for your full money return. And if you are a fan of the scent you have purchased, then guess what, you’re in luck! You get a little small travel size perfume to take with you wherever you go.
To recap, you pay a fraction of the cost for perfume that smells exactly like the famous brand perfume. You get a free sample that doubles as a travel size perfume for when you’re on the go. You get to return it for free if you’re not a fan. And the company is even 100% vegan. I mean what else can you ask for. I’d have to say this one is a win for us ladies in the perfume compartment! What are you waiting for, go get yourself some of your favorite brand name perfumes!
