If you’re someone who’s totally in love with Indian food, you’re probably already in love with turmeric. The reason why we say that is there’s a pretty good chance that you already know that it’s the spice that gives curry the coloring that it has. So why not use it for other purposes like perhaps a DIY turmeric face mask!
But what you might not know is all of the healthy benefits that come from eating turmeric or even taking it as a supplement. One of the reasons it’s so awesome is because of the compound curcumin found in it. Curcumin contains powerful antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties too. As a result, turmeric boosts brain power, lowers the risk of heart disease, prevents brain cancer, treats Alzheimer’s disease, soothes arthritis pain, decreases depression-related symptoms and even fights signs of aging.
That last benefit? It’s the reason why we’re featuring a DIY turmeric face mask recipe. Whether you’ve got acne, dark circles underneath your eyes, sun damage, stretch marks or just naturally dry skin, this is the kind of mask that will effectively treat these issues (and more), as well as give a beautiful glow to your face and neck.
Are you ready to start making it?
What You’ll Need:
- 1 tablespoon of plain yogurt
- 1 teaspoon of turmeric
- 1 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice
First, let’s get into the benefits of the other ingredients in this recipe. The calcium, vitamins B and D and protein that are found in plain yogurt all play a role in keeping your skin moisturized and youthful-looking. As a bonus, yogurt softens the appearance of fine lines, fades blemishes and, during the summer season, soothes sunburns too. And fresh lemon juice? It also is full of antioxidants, plus it’s a great skin brightener and exfoliant as well.
Now that you know why you need all three of these ingredients, let’s get started with making the mask.
Step 1: Mix all of the ingredients together until they’re smooth and creamy.
Step 2: Wash and rinse your face thoroughly (leave it damp though).
Step 3: With an application brush, apply the mask to your face (all over your face).
Step 4: Let it sit for about 15 minutes.
Step 5: Rinse with warm, then cool water (cool water helps to close up your pores).
Watch how beautiful your skin instantly looks—all thanks to turmeric!
